The Directorate of Quality Assurance and Performance Contract came into existence in September, 2021 as a result of merging two directorates; Directorate of Quality Assurance and Directorate Performance Contracting & Quality Management Systems. The Directorate has four distinctive sections:

  1. Quality Assurance (QA)

  2. Performance Contracting (PC)

  3. Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  4. Information Security Management System (ISMS) 

The main objectives of the Directorate to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders of the University are:

  • To provide guidance in development and implementation of internal and external quality assurance procedures and practices.

  • To ensure that the quality of academic programmes at the Maasai Mara University meet standards expected by stakeholders.

  • To ensure that graduates have attained skills and knowledge through Maasai Mara University academic programmes that are valued by Industry/Market and Stakeholders.

  • To enable Maasai Mara University to meet and exceed requirements by the Commission on Higher Education.

  • To provide guidance in identifying internal and external standards and criteria consistent with internationally recognized standards.

  • To assist in maintaining and developing quality of academic programmes through enhanced Quality Management System procedures.

  • To ensure regular review of the academic programs and support activities through internal quality audit as a means of compliance feedback.

  • To facilitate development of a culture of continuous quality improvement to achieve academic excellence.

  • To enable identify areas of strength and excellence as well as areas in need of corrective action for purposes continuous improvement in the short, medium and long-term;


    LATEST ISO CERTIFICATION

  • ISO 9001:2015: Maasai University is ISO 9001:2015 certified institution. This has enabled the Directorate to use the QMS standards to carry out planned audits with the aim of Identifying gaps and areas of improvement to keep focus in driving the University towards achieving the Vision.

  • ISO 27001:2013: The University is in the process of acquiring ISO 27001:2013 Certification on Information Security Management System (ISMS). This will help in protection of information in terms of research and innovation.

EFFORTS TO ENSURE UNIVERSITY OFFERS QUALITY SERVICES

The Directorate monitors all academic process to ensure that they conform to the set standards and policies. This is to ensure the University admits qualified students, offer quality market driven academic programmes, ensure quality teaching and examination process to graduate competitive students into the job market. 

AUDITING

  • The Quality Assurance System embraces internal audits as a means of self-sustenance. Trained Quality Management System auditors audit the quality assurance processes of the University at least once an academic year.

  • External Audits are also carried out to check the conformity to set procedures and policies for quality services

TRAININGS

The Directorate periodically carries out training on University staff for quality services, the area of training include:

  • Programme review and Development

  • ISO 9001:2015: Quality Management Systems

  • ISO 27001:2013: Information Security Management System (ISMS).
