The Centre for Cultural Heritage Studies (CCHS) at Maasai Mara University is dedicated to the preservation, promotion and advancement of cultural heritage through teaching, research, innovation and community engagement. Located in the culturally rich Maasai region, the Centre promotes scholarship in Anthropology, Cultural Sociology, Heritage Studies, Museology, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Cultural Resource Management.

In collaboration with the University schools, the Centre is spearheading the development of academic programmes in Anthropology; professional training courses on culture; develop initiatives to preserve, revitalize and promote culture and Indigenous Languages, particularly the Maa language as vital repositories of cultural identity, history and indigenous knowledge. The Centre undertakes multidisciplinary research, publishes scholarly work and organizes conferences, workshops, seminars, colloquia and community outreach programmes that foster intercultural dialogue, heritage conservation and sustainable development through partnerships with local and international institutions.
