The 14th Mara Day Celebrations Scientific Conference, 2025

Introduction
The Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) in collaboration with Mwalimu
Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MNUAT), Maasai Mara
University (Mmara-U) and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is pleased to announce a call for papers, posters and exhibitions for the 14th Mara Day Scientific Conference. This conference themed “Protect Mara River:
Preserve Life,” will take place on September 14, 2025 at MNUAT, Butiama
District in the United Republic of Tanzania. We invite researchers, students, the
private sector and government officials from the East African Community
member states—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC Congo, and
Somalia—as well as international researchers focused on the Mara Basin
Ecosystem, to contribute their insights on issues related to the Mara River
through conservation.

Conference Theme: “Protect Mara River: Preserve Life”
Conference Sub-themes
i. Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management to foster
Sustainable Development in Mara River Basin;
ii. Cross-Border Cooperation, Policy Implementation, and Conflict Resolution
through community-based and gender mainstreaming approaches for
River Basin management; and
iii. Innovative Technologies for addressing emerging threats within the Mara
River Basin.

  • Submission of full papers dateline – 29th August, 2025
  • Programme notification – 30th August, 2025

Submitted abstracts should be saved in the following format in MS Word, named
as: Sub-theme number _ Institution _ First Name _ Surname Name for instance; 2_

iii. Font size 12
iv. Affiliation of authors i.e. Departments, Organization, Postal address,
Telephone contact, Email address, ORCiD number (if available)
v. Standard Poster templates will be shared
vi. Abstract body
vii. Key words (4 – 6 key words)
Please ensure the abstract has: a brief introduction, gap, main objectives,
methodology, findings/results, conclusions and recommendations of the study
(maximum 350 words).
NB; There should be NO citations in the abstracts.
