3rd Biennial International Social Work and Multidisciplinary Conference 2027

June 9, 2027 @ 8:00 am - June 11, 2027 @ 5:00 pm

“Global Health in an Interconnected World: Embracing Ubuntu for Collective Action”

9th – 11th June 2027

Maasai Mara University, Narok, Kenya

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The world’s health and social challenges are interconnected: the after-effects of COVID-19, a growing mental health crisis, widening inequality, climate-related displacement and fragmented care systems. None of them stops at national borders. The 3rd edition of this biennial conference brings together academics, practitioners, researchers, policymakers and students to share evidence and co-create solutions. Its guide is the African philosophy of Ubuntu, “I am because we are”, which places collective well-being, solidarity and shared humanity at the centre of health and social action.

Hosted by Maasai Mara University with partners including Millersville University of Pennsylvania, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (College of Social Work), Concord University West Virginia, USA, the University of Hawaii, JKUAT, KMTC and the Association of Social Work Educators of Kenya (ASWEK), the Conference offers three days of keynote addresses, paper and digital poster presentations, panel discussions and workshops. Selected papers will be invited for peer-reviewed proceedings.

Conference sub-tracks:

• Global Health Systems and Policy • Social Work Theory and Practice
• Ubuntu, Indigenous Knowledge and Culture • Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being
• Migration, Displacement and Social Justice • Gender, Youth and Vulnerable Populations
• Climate Change, Environment and Health • AI Innovations, Technology and Social Impact
