It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that I announce the passing on of our esteemed Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Outreach, Professor Francis Mburu, following a short illness on 30th August, 2026.
The untimely demise of Professor Francis Mburu is a great loss not only to the University but also to the academic community, the profession, and the many people whose lives and careers were touched by his services.
Prof. Mburu served the University with distinction, commitment and unwavering dedication. In his capacity as Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Outreach he provided visionary leadership in advancing the University’s research agenda, fostering innovation, strengthening partnerships and promoting outreach and community engagement.
His contribution to the University’s growth and development leaves an enduring legacy and his distinguished service will continue to bear testimony to a life of purpose and dedicated service.
The University will continue to stand with the bereaved family during this difficult period of mourning. On behalf of the University Council, Management and the entire University community, we express our deepest condolence on this sad and irreplaceable loss. Let us all remember the late Professor Francis Mburu, celebrate the life he lived and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
May the soul of Professor Francis Mburu rest in eternal peace.
