Industry Day 2026

Maasai Mara University, through the Directorate of Industry Linkages and Consultancy, led by Director Prof. Justus Simiyu, marked the first day of Industry Day 2026 with a strong focus on bridging the gap between classroom learning and the real-world workplace. The event brought together students, lecturers, and university leaders in a lively setting to share ideas, learn, and explore how academic knowledge can better align with industry needs.
The directorate partnered with key industry players, including Davis & Shirtliff and Ecosave Africa, who played a central role in the discussions. Mr. Shadrack Lang’at and Mr. Daniel Wanjiku shared practical insights on innovation, giving students a clearer picture of what is expected in the professional world. Their contributions made the sessions more relatable and engaging, especially for learners preparing to enter the job market.
The event was graced by Prof. Makiya Ratemo, who, representing the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Outreach, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to building strong partnerships with industry. He highlighted the importance of these collaborations in helping students gain relevant skills and remain competitive in their fields. A panel discussion on university–industry collaboration further enriched the event, sparking open and meaningful conversations about both the opportunities available and the challenges that need to be addressed.
This event shows the university’s commitment to bridging the gap between the class and the industry and growing a student population that is ready for the industry.
