CURVEBEND EAST AFRICA STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING

October 30 @ 9:00 am - October 31 @ 5:00 pm

Maasai Mara University will host the Curvebend East Africa Team from 30th to 31st October 2025. The team comprises 20 international guests from the University of Groningen, Leiden University, Wageningen University (Netherlands), the
College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka (Tanzania). The visiting team is part of the Curvebend Consortia, a multidisciplinary partnership implementing an NWO-funded project under the Dutch Research Council (NWO) “Research
along Routes by Consortia (NWA-ORC)” programme, through which Maasai Mara University secured a KSh 125 million grant. The project, led by Dr. Jedidah Nankaya, focuses on bending biodiversity loss through collective actions, bringing together researchers and institutions from Kenya, Tanzania, the Netherlands, and Argentina to co-create sustainable solutions for
rangeland management and community resilience. The EA Curvebend Project is structured around four focal research areas, each led by an early-career researcher:
• Human–Wildlife Conflict (including invasive species such as Prosopis)
• Benefit Sharing
• Grazing Area Management and Access
• Water Management and Access
The purpose of this visit is to engage with key stakeholders—including the Narok County Government, the Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA), and Maasai Mara University—to strengthen collaboration and jointly plan activities under the Curvebend Project.
