The lecture was delivered by Prof. Andrew Dabalen, PhD, the World Bank’s Africa Region Chief Economist, who joined the audience live via Zoom from Washington, DC. Prof. Dabalen shared valuable insights on the persistent challenge of poverty in Africa despite the continent’s vast resources, and highlighted the critical role that universities and research institutions play in generating evidence-based solutions for sustainable development.
The engaging session brought together students, faculty, and stakeholders who actively participated in discussions on how academic research, policy engagement, and innovation can contribute to poverty reduction across Africa.
