The School takes great pride in offering a diverse and dynamic range of programmes designed to launch thriving scientific careers and advance scholarly expertise. At the undergraduate level, students may choose from disciplines including Computer Science, Applied Statistics with Computing, Microbiology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Botany, Information Science, and Agri-Biotechnology. At postgraduate level, we offer Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees across Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Pure Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Science, and Applied Entomology — providing rigorous, research-intensive training at every level.

Our distinguished team of over forty-two highly qualified faculty members brings expertise spanning Atmospheric and Environmental Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, Renewable Energy, Genetics, Aquatic Biology, Software Engineering, Pure and Applied Mathematics, and many more disciplines. Staff members maintain active research programmes and collaborate with leading researchers locally and internationally, ensuring that the science conducted here is both globally competitive and locally relevant. Our institutional research activities are supported by Maasai Mara University’s Research, Innovation and Outreach Division, which also facilitates international conferences and research grants.

Welcome to the School of Pure and Applied Sciences at Maasai Mara University, where our well-equipped laboratories provide students with hands-on experience across diverse scientific disciplines. Our Biological Sciences Lab spans 71 square metres and accommodates up to 50 students, supporting programmes in Microbiology, Plant Science, Zoology, and Agri-Biotechnology. The Chemistry Lab offers 94 square metres of dedicated space for up to 60 students, enabling practical training in analytical, organic, and inorganic chemistry.

The Physics Lab provides 94 square metres of specialized space for up to 35 students, facilitating hands-on experimentation in physics. Additionally, our two modern computer laboratories offer spacious facilities, with the first covering 231 square metres for 20 students and the second providing 231 square metres for up to 35 students, supporting programmes in Computer Science, Information Science, and Applied Statistics with Computing.

The School of Pure and Applied Sciences offers a diverse range of programmes designed to meet various academic and professional interests. Undergraduate programmes include the Bachelor of Science in Agri Biotechnology, Applied Statistics with Computing, Plant Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, General, Information Science, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, and Biology (Zoology). At the postgraduate level, the School provides Master of Science programmes in Applied Entomology, Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Pure Mathematics, and Information Science, as well as Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, and Pure Mathematics. The School of Pure and Applied Sciences at Maasai Mara University, established in 2013, has grown into a vibrant and research-active academic community. With 42 dedicated teaching staff and a student population of over 600 within the School, our academic programmes additionally serve more than 2,500 students from other schools across the university — including the School of Education, School of Natural Resources & Environmental Studies, and programmes in Animal Health and Nursing. The School houses three departments — Biological Sciences, Mathematics & Physical Sciences, and Computing & Information Sciences — whose teaching and research are increasingly recognised regionally and internationally.
