A Transformative Kickoff
The Inaugural National Biennial Postgraduate Students’ Conference 2025 officially kicked off today at Maasai Mara University, Narok, bringing together brilliant minds in postgraduate research and innovation from across the country. With both physical and virtual participation via Google Meet, the conference theme—“Innovation for Sustainable Development: Postgraduate Research for Societal Transformation”—set a powerful tone for the next three days.

Day 1 featured a vibrant opening ceremony with welcoming speeches from: Prof. P. Aloo-Obudho, Vice Chancellor Maasai Mara University, Remarks from Dr. Kennedy Kerei, Chair of the University Council, Prof. Emeritus Ratemo Michieka, Chairman of the NRF Board of Trustees, and Dr. Carol Hunja, Secretary, State Department of Higher Education and Research, who emphasized the importance of Intra-Africa collaboration support in advancing research.
The afternoon was marked by insightful presentations on innovation and entrepreneurship by Dr. Tony Omwansa, CEO of KeNIA, and Mr. Wilfred Mworia of ViKtoria Ventures. Topics included the role of innovation in R&D and strategies for commercializing research.
Huge appreciation to the Prof. Beatrice Manyasi, NBPS Conference Chair, Prof. G. Bulitia, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics & Students Affairs, and the Master of Ceremony, Dr. Karani Onyiko, and the entire conference secretariat for a seamless Day 1. We can’t wait for what Day 2 brings!
