A New Chapter in Global Research Collaboration Begins at Maasai Mara University

Great partnerships begin with meaningful conversations and on Sunday, 26th July 2026, Maasai Mara University proudly welcomed a distinguished delegation of renowned scholars from China, marking another significant milestone in the University's journey towards becoming a globally connected centre of research and innovation.
The delegation, led by Prof. Xue Yan, and comprising Prof. Dr. Zhigang Lei, Prof. Jie Wang, and Dr. Kelvin Githaiga, visited the University following their engagements at the Sino-Africa Joint Research Centre (SAJOREC) Headquarters in Kenya.
Hosted by the Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity Conservation (CCCBC) under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Wycliffe Wanzala, PhD, the meeting brought together scholars united by one common goal to use science, innovation, and collaboration to address some of the world's most pressing challenges.
The discussions focused on exciting opportunities for collaboration in:

✅ Genetics, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Parasitology and Vector Studies
✅ Vaccine and drug research and development
✅ Joint research projects and international grant acquisition
✅ Exchange of scientific knowledge, publications and research materials
✅ Professional training opportunities for Kenyan researchers in Chinese institutions
✅ Long-term institutional partnerships between Maasai Mara University and universities in China
This was more than a courtesy visit, it was the beginning of a shared vision.
The partnership is expected to unlock opportunities for collaborative research, postgraduate training, staff and student exchange programmes, joint scientific publications, and increased international research funding. Most importantly, it reflects our unwavering commitment to generating knowledge that transforms lives and addresses global challenges.
