Maasai Mara University conducted a pre-visit to Leshuuta Medical Centre in Leshuuta Ward in preparation for a community medical camp scheduled for 6th–8th August 2026. The visit aimed to coordinate logistics, engage stakeholders, and mobilize residents to participate in the outreach programme.

The University delegation was led by the Director of Public Relations, Marketing and Linkages, Dr. Edward Kateiya, and included the Coordinator of the Centre for Community Outreach, Mr. Jackson Masago, Ms. Nadupoi Kishoyian from the Directorate of Gender, Culture and Equity, among other University representatives. Also present were officials from the County Government of Narok, Kenya Red Cross, World Vision, AMREF, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Stakeholders discussed preparations for the medical camp, community mobilization, and collaborative approaches to improving healthcare access. Key health concerns raised included dental problems, allergies, pneumonia, eye conditions, ulcers, water contamination, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and typhoid. The meeting also emphasized the need for clean water, sustained public health interventions, and continuous health awareness programmes.

The University reaffirmed its commitment to community service through partnerships that promote accessible healthcare, preventive health education, and sustainable community development in line with its vision of innovation and empowerment for societal transformation.

The three-day medical camp will offer free medical consultations, health screenings, treatment, and health education to residents while strengthening collaboration between the University, healthcare partners, the County Government of Narok, and the local community.
