A Safer Campus Through Fire Safety Training
Maasai Mara University, through the Security Department, successfully conducted a one-day Fire Safety Training for members of staff today, reaffirming the University's commitment to promoting a safe, secure, and resilient working and learning environment.
The training was officially opened by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Outreach, Prof. Francis Mburu, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peninah Aloo-Obudho. In her message, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that safety is a shared responsibility and urged all members of staff to cultivate a culture of vigilance and personal accountability. She noted that responsible behavior remains the most effective way to prevent emergencies and protect lives and property.
n his remarks, Prof. Mburu underscored the importance of equipping staff with practical knowledge and skills in fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and effective response to ensure the safety of the University community and its facilities.
Throughout the training, participants received both theoretical and practical instruction on fire risk identification, common causes of fire outbreaks, fire prevention strategies, the proper use of firefighting equipment, emergency evacuation procedures, disaster response, and preparedness for security threats, including terrorism-related incidents.
The University extends its sincere appreciation to all facilitators and members of staff whose participation and commitment contributed to the success of the training.
