Maasai Mara University and the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Field Visit to the Mau Block
Today, a joint team from Maasai Mara University and the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) conducted a successful field visit to the Mau Block, allocated to the University for rehabilitation and restoration activities.
This collaborative initiative aims to support sustainable forest management, enhance ecological recovery, and promote hands-on learning and research opportunities for our students and staff.
It is also a clear manifestation and commitment towards realization of the University niche and the 5M pillars.
During the visit, the team assessed the site’s current conditions, identified priority areas for rehabilitation, and outlined practical steps for implementing long-term restoration plans.
The University was represented by; the Director Public Relations, Marketing and Linkages, (PRM&L) Dr. Edward Kateiya, Chair, Department of Environmental Management, Dr. Daniel Oyier, Coordinator Centre for Community Outreach Mr. Jackson. Masago, Marjan Abdala, RI&O and Nickson Magak (PRM&L).
KFS team composed of Chief Conservator of Forests (CFC) Paul Wasike, Assistant CFS Sammy Langat, Inspector Emmanuel Lewa, Corporal Sammy Kioo and Zakaria Mwichi.
Together, we are committed to restoring the Mau ecosystem and contributing to national conservation efforts.
