Over 250 participants from five countries : Kenya, Belgium, Burundi , Nigeria and India In attendance

The African Universities and Communities Climate Week (AUCCW) Conference, 2025 dubbed the 1st Hearts4Climate International entered day two today in pomp, glamour and colour. The day was an amalgam of ambivalent activities and sessions: Speeches, Oral and Poster Presentations, Keynote addresses, Exhibitions, Workshops, Health camp and tree planting among others.
Tree planting by Chief guests set off the day as symbol of collective effort, unity in sustainability and interconnectedness of ecosystem and global responsibility. Guest speakers left participants yearning for more with inspiring and insightful keynote speeches aligned to the theme of the conference ” UNITING FOR A HEALTHY PLANET FOR ALL”. 
Acting Deputy vice-Chancellor, Research innovation and Outreach Prof . Francis Mburu gave an overview of Maasai Mara University explaining the University’s niche and it’s contribution to achiving a healthy and sustainable environment. These were similar sentiments shared by Dr. Nathan Uchtmann, Conference Co-Chair and ACOPPHE executive Director.
Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics and Student Affairs Prof. Godrick Bulitia conveyed greetings from the Vice Chancellor, emphasizing the role of the conference in fostering collaboration, innovation, and education to achieve better health and environmental outcomes. He underscored the critical role of youth in driving environmental sustainability and welcomed delegates to the University.
Guest speakers Prof. Chandrakhant Salunkeh from Krishna Mahavidyalaya Bethare Bk, India, and Prof. Patrick Worms from CIFOR-ICRAF, Belgium gave presentations both highlighting sustainable innovations and collaborative research in climate resilience and the relationship to one health.
Narok County was ably represented led by CECM health Antony Namunkuk , Chief Officer, Environment Willy Loigero.
Ms. Nightingale Wakigera, Conference Secretary, Dr. Lanoi J. Parmuat, Executive Director, ENAI-Africa, Lanoi Parmuat – Executive Director, Enai Africa, Soila Sankale , Kenya Red Cross and other guests speakers reiterated the importance of health towards development, sustainability and the ingrained unequivocal role of collaboration in societal transformation and change.

Participants engaged in presentations, discussions, and knowledge exchange on the conference thematic issues. Simultaneously, health camp was ongoing where the local community and conference participants were privileged to receive various services offered including SHA registration by the health department and the Lions Hospital.
The elated faces depicted satisfaction setting the stage for impactful dialogue and action, reaffirming the partners commitment to being a hub for seeking redress to global challenges.
