UNIVERSITY OUTREACH INITIATIVE: DONATION OF FAMILY SOLAR LIGHTS TO PRIMARY SCHOOLS
"Education is the foundation for a brighter future, and through this donation, we hope to support the adopted schools in achieving their academic dreams. ”
In it’s continued commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, the University through Centre for community outreach led by the Coordinator Mr. Jackson Masago is conducting an outreach and community service programme aimed at enhancing education and promoting sustainable energy solutions in local primary schools and the community. The initiative involves the donation of family solar lights to adopted primary schools within in Narok County. Oletukat and Naisuya Primary are the latest beneficiaries. The donations targeting the most needy and vulnerable pupils aims to address the challenges faced by many pupils in rural areas who lack access to reliable lighting for evening studies.
Many households in these communities depend on kerosene lamps, which are not only costly but also pose health and environmental hazards. Speaking during the handover ceremony, Madam Tabitha Macharia and Mr. Dickson Napikue, Head teachers Oletukat and Naisuya Primary respectively, lauded the initiative as timely and one that would have a long-term impact not only on the beneficiaries’ education but also in their families, the schools and the community at large.

Mr. Masago emphasized the University’s dedication to contributing to the welfare of neighboring communities. “Education is the foundation for a brighter future, and through this donation, we hope to support the adopted schools in achieving their academic dreams. We are looking forward to strengthen these partnerships for development.” The university plans to continue and expand similar initiatives, reinforcing its role as a proactive partner in addressing societal challenges and promoting inclusive development.
