DESCRIPTION:INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY CELEBRATIONS \nMaasai Mara University\, through the Department of Languages\, Linguistics and Culture\, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender\, Culture and Children Services\, through the State Department for Culture and Heritage\, will host the International Mother Language Day 2026 celebrations on 21st February 2026 at the Maasai Mara University Conference Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.\, bringing together scholars\, students\, cultural practitioners\, policymakers\, and members of the public to celebrate and promote linguistic diversity\, multilingualism\, and the preservation of indigenous and minority languages as foundations of cultural identity\, inclusive education\, and sustainable development; the event will feature keynote addresses\, panel discussions\, academic reflections\, cultural performances\, poetry\, and interactive sessions that highlight the role of mother languages in social cohesion\, knowledge transmission\, heritage preservation\, and national development\, while fostering meaningful dialogue between academia\, government\, and communities on language policy\, practice\, and revitalization efforts in Kenya and beyond.
